Access to Databases
Students, faculty & staff will need two items to access library databases: your Garrett College ID with a Remote Database Access barcode number on the back and a database password card which is available at the library. If you are in a distance learning class, you may call the main desk ( 301-387-3009 ) for instructions on how to obtain access.
Books and CDs - 3 weeks for students and community members
DVDs - 5 days for all borrowers
Reference - 5 days for all borrowers
Holds - A book that is checked out may be placed on hold so that you will be notified when the book is returned.
Renewals - A book, audiocassette, CD, DVD or video that is needed longer than the initial loan period may be renewed by phone ( 301-387-3009) or in person as long as there is no hold.

Students, staff and faculty of Garrett College and residents of Garrett County, Maryland are eligible to receive library cards from the Garrett College Library. Please register at the Circulation Desk or online through the library catalog. Online registrants will be required to present proof of their address when they come to the library.
Books, audiocassettes and CDs - $0.10 per day
Videos and DVDs - $0.50 per day
Reference materials - $1.00 per day
Other fine rates may be applied for specific class materials at the discretion of the library staff or the faculty. Patrons will be notified at the time of checkout.

Online Research Assistance
Studying from home and need help? Online reference assistance is now available! Just email firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance from a librarian.
Please allow for longer response time in the evening and weekend hours.
Replacement costs for lost or damaged materials include the cost of the item and a processing fee that covers the supplies used in processing. For media materials, this includes any cases and extra sleeves used to prepare the material for circulation.
Books - Cost of item plus $5.00
Videos, DVDs and Audiocassettes - Cost of item plus $10.00
CDs - Cost of item plus $15.00
Photocopying is available at $0.10 per copy.
Students are given $10 on account at the beginning of each semester for printing at the rate of .05 cents per page black and white or .10 cents per page in color. Additional credit for printing may be purchased at the Circulation Desk.
Other Account Holders must purchase a print card at the circulation desk. They are available in the amounts of $.50, $1.00, $5.00 and $10.00. Persons signed in as Guests may print, but must come pay at the Circulation Desk to release their print job.

Faculty may place materials on Reserve for use by their classes. Materials may be specified for library use only or for a specific circulation period designated by the instructor. These materials are available at the Circulation or Reserve Desk.

Reservations may be made in advance at the Circulation Desk or by calling 301-387-3009. Otherwise, availability is first come, first served.
