Garrett College is seeking applicants for a full-time custodial technician. This position works primarily from Wednesday through Sunday from 10 PM to 6 AM. Training on this position will be up to three weeks and will be Monday through Friday 6 AM to 2 PM. This position is responsible for performing all tasks related to cleaning and housekeeping of the campus facilities. As part of the Facilities Department staff, this position is also responsible, as necessary, for the generalized safety of the campus and related College property. Initial placement is $15.00 to $17.83 per hour depending on your work experience. We offer an outstanding fringe benefit package. Health plan is available the first of the month after hire date. Paid time off is available after the successful completion of a 90-day provisional period. Temporary Position from July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024Garrett College is seeking applicants for a TEMPORARY Administrative Associate for Student Affairs. Work schedule is 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. There are no benefits associated with this position other than sick and safe leave. Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Affairs, the administrative associate of student affairs provides professional customer service to students and the College community. This position operates as a front-line, integrated service representative in the broad areas of admissions and student services. This position is responsible for the efficient function, and oversight of the operations of the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, student life and admissions, including office management, public contact, coordination of meetings, and other administrative tasks. An Associate's degree is preferred but not required. A minimum of three years of full-time related work experience as an assistant supporting a senior manager is preferred. Must have a high level of computer proficiency, excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and professionalism. Garrett College is inviting applications for the full-time position of Head Librarian and Assistant Director of the Learning Commons. Under general direction, this position is responsible for the direct management and leadership of the library functions of the Learning Commons including reference, circulation, acquisitions, technical services, collection development, information literacy instruction, management of the library's automated systems, the Learning Commons and technological applications associated with tutoring, testing, writing and math centers, personnel, and public relations. This position supports the Director in management of the Learning Commons budget, strategic planning, assessment, and reporting. The minimum education requirement for this position is a Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited program. The applicant must have a minimum of three years’ work experience in an Academic Library. Garrett is a small, public, two-year College nestled in the rural mountains of Western Maryland and is approximately a two-hour drive from Pittsburgh and a three-hour drive from Washington, DC and Baltimore. The areas most popular tourist attraction is Deep Creek Lake, the largest fresh water lake in Maryland. Garrett county is also home to WISP Resort, a full season resort with multiple ski slopes, golf courses, and outdoor activities. The college is located in an area of Maryland with a general population of around 30,000. Initial salary placement range is $57,026 to $67,783. Placement is based on relevant experience. Garrett College invites applications for a full-time English Faculty position to join its team in McHenry, Maryland. This 10-month faculty position (Assistant/Associate Professor rank based on qualification and experience) is responsible for teaching writing, grammar and literature. The ideal candidate will have the ability to also teach communication, reading, developmental students, and high school dual enrolled English courses. Faculty at Garrett College carry a 15-credit/semester teaching load. Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required. Required Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a M.A. in English or a Master’s Degree in a closely related field. At least two years of full-time college teaching experience, or the equivalent is required. Community Aquatics & Recreation Complex (CARC) is seeking applicants for Lifeguards. Applicants must have a current certificate in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid. Training and Certifications are available on site. The work schedule will vary, including mornings, nights, weekends, and some holidays. The facility opens at 6am and closes at 8:30 during the weekdays, 8 am-8pm on Saturday, and 10am-6pm on Sunday. There will be physical demands of patrolling the pool deck, making water rescues, and performing CPR. Life guards are required to attend monthly In Service training. The work is indoors. Personal protective equipment, one hip pack, and one uniform tee shirt will be provided and are required while on duty. Lifeguards are responsible for patron safety.
