Dustin Keller, who will graduate from Garrett College next month, has been named to the PTK All-Maryland Academic Team.

Garrett College sophomore Dustin Keller has been selected as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society's All-Maryland Academic Team.

Keller, set to graduate next month with a degree in General Studies, will be recognized May 1st at a dinner honoring state team members at the Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City.

"I was kind of shocked," said Keller, who receives a PTK scholarship as part of the award. "When I filled out the scholarship application, I didn't expect to receive anything."

Keller has a 3.8 grade-point average at Garrett College. The 2022 Northern Garrett High School graduate plans to attend Frostburg State University and pursue a degree in social work.

"I just feel like social work is something I'm supposed to do," said Keller. "I enjoy helping others."

"Dustin's commitment to our PTK Chapter goes far beyond scholarship, service and integrity," said Stephanie Miller, who serves as co-advisor of Garrett College's Alpha Omicron Phi Chapter with Dr. Michele Buday-Murray. "He has a compassion for others that he sincerely hopes to apply beyond his years at Garrett College."

"We're all extremely proud of Dustin and pleased that he's receiving this well-deserved recognition of his outstanding work at Garrett College," said Dr. Richard Midcap, Garrett College's president.

PTK is the official honor society for two-year colleges. The largest honor society in American higher education, PTK has more than 1.3 million members in over 1,100 chapters.
