Students complete GC vet assistant program
Next veterinary assistant class, starting in September, is open for registration
Garrett College’s latest Veterinary Assistant Program cohort recently completed its classroom instruction and externship. Graduates pictured, left to right, are Madalyn Miller (Grantsville), Laurel Inglese (Davis, WV), Taya Guthrie (Oakland), and Brynna Arnold (Oakland).
Students enrolled in the Veterinary Assistant Program at Garrett College recently completed their training. The Veterinary Assistant program, offered through the College’s Continuing Education & Workforce Development division, includes a 95-hour classroom section followed by a 26-hour externship.
Veterinary assistants aid in kennel care and assist both veterinary technicians and veterinarians during exams of animals, and provide support throughout the veterinary office. They are employed in animal shelters, animal emergency centers, and veterinary practices.
The next Veterinary Assistant Program offering is scheduled to start September 13th. It will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Garrett College Career Technology Training Center in Accident.
